Lazio have been hit with a fine of €50,000 (£43,520) after supporters displayed anti-Semitic Anne Frank stickers last October.

The stickers, which showed images of the Holocaust victim in a Roma jersey, were found in the Stadio Olimpico before a Serie A match between Lazio and Cagliari.

Following the incident, Italian football authorities ordered stadiums to hold a minute's silence at their next matches while a passage from Anne Frank's diary was read out.

In addition, 13 Biancoceleste fans have received stadium bans of between five and eight years in connection with the incident.

The tribunal said that Lazio did everything in its power to prevent discriminatory material being introduced in the stadium, noting the stickers were too small to be detected.

However, Lazio was still held 'objectively' responsible for the incident as the supporters' representative, the Italian football federation (FIGC) said on Thursday.

The tribunal opted not to ask Lazio to play two matches behind closed doors as the FIGC prosecutor requested, as this would also punish fans who did not play a part in what happened.

Lazio are currently third in the Serie A table, eight points behind leaders Napoli.
