Great Britain's Jake Jarman finishes fifth in the men's all-around final at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, as Japan's Daiki Hashimoto takes the title.

Great Britain's Jake Jarman finished in a highly respectable fifth place in the men's all-around final at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool.

The four-time Commonwealth Games champion took to the individual contest alongside compatriot Joe Fraser and ended with a total of 82.865 to break into the top five.

Jarman competed the most difficult floor routine of the evening to score 14.433 - the third highest in the competition - while he showcased his brilliance on vault with a terrific handspring double-tuck half-out to score 14.800.

However, the 21-year-old's efforts were not quite enough to earn him a medal, as Japan's Daiki Hashimoto - the reigning Olympic champion - took the world title with 87.198.

Boheng Zhang of China took home the silver medal with a total of 86.765, and Japan's Wataru Tanigawa - who landed a hugely difficult handspring double-piked half-out vault - placed third with 85.231.

The USA's Brody Malone was fourth with a total of 84.931, but Jarman's compatriot Fraser endured a disappointing evening in front of the home crowd.

The reigning European all-around champion counted falls on the pommel horse, vault, parallel bars and high bar for a total of 77.098, placing him 22nd out of 24.
