England successfully defended their Commonwealth Games title in the men's artistic gymnastics team event with a phenomenal display in Birmingham.

Competing in the third and final subdivision alongside Scotland, the team of Courtney Tulloch, Jake Jarman, Joe Fraser, James Hall and Giarnni Regini-Moran led the way with a total score of 254.500.

However, the largest celebrations arguably belonged to Cyprus, who clinched a historic bronze medal (239.650), and the runners-up spot went to Canada (241.200).

Wales - led by the returning Brinn Bevan - starred in the second subdivision but were knocked down to sixth (236.300), as Scotland (237.800) settled for fifth place.

Individually, Hall and Jarman took the top two spots in the all-around standings to ease into the final, and they will be joined by Scotland's Frank Baines and Pavel Karnejenko, but Hamish Carter missed out owing to the two gymnasts per nation rule.

Numerous home favourites also made the apparatus finals, with Regini-Moran competing in the floor, vault and parallel bars finals, while Tulloch will go for gold in rings and Hall in horizontal bar and pommel horse.

Jarman has made the floor and vault finals, while Fraser is involved in the horizontal bar, rings, parallel bars and pommel competitions, the latter of which will see him battle reigning champion Rhys McClenaghan of Northern Ireland. body check tags ::
