Justin Rose has acknowledged that he had control of The Masters before Sergio Garcia's comeback denied him victory at Augusta.
Garcia eventually claimed the Green Jacket at the first playoff hole after initially missing a putt for the win in regulation play but earlier in the round, Rose held a two-shot lead with Garcia in the trees at the 13th.
However, Rose has said that he has no complaints after failing to claim his second Major crown, insisting that he did "virtually everything right" during the final round.
The 36-year-old said: "I felt I had it wrapped up. When Sergio is in the trees, it looked pretty good. It was great fun to be a part of, I felt I did virtually everything right.
"I felt pretty calm. I was surprised how I felt out there. I really enjoyed it, in complete control, from a performance point of view, I was very happy. If there was half a chance, I'd have given it a go [on the playoff hole]. I knew I would have a putt for four and get out of there."
Rose had been bidding to become the second successive Englishman to win The Masters after Danny Willett's success last year.
