Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has cruised to yet another win, this time at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Unlike the wet qualifying session that the field had to endure on Saturday, it remained dry in Montreal a day later, leading to what was effectively a procession for the Championship leader.

Although Verstappen never opened up the size of advantage that he usually establishes, the chasing pack never came close to passing or even troubling him throughout the 70 laps.

Victory for Verstappen sees him equal Ayrton Senna's total of 41 successes in Formula 1, moving him to fifth on the all-time standings.

Lewis Hamilton, who tops that list, had to settle for third in the Mercedes after Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso held off his advances during the closing stages.

The Ferrari pair of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr were a respectable fourth and fifth respectively having started in 10th and 11th spot on the grid.

Likewise, Sergio Perez advanced from 12th to sixth, as well as collecting an extra point for the fastest lap, with Williams' Alex Albon impressively holding on for seventh after defying fierce pressure during the final quarter of the race.

Esteban Ocon, Lance Stroll and Valtteri Bottas completed the top 10, the latter pair benefitting from a five-second penalty handed to Lando Norris.

George Russell had been in contention for a podium before he went into the wall, later recovering to eighth before his Mercedes team called him in to retire due to a brakes issue.

With regards to the title race, Verstappen now sits 69 points clear of Perez, while Alonso has extended his lead over Hamilton in the race for third to 15 points.
