Chairman Jeff Shi has revealed that Wolverhampton Wanderers 'are ready to invest' during the January transfer window.

Earlier this month, it was suggested that Fosun International would be reducing their outlay on new players going forward while they attempt to attract fresh investment.

However, in an interview on the club's YouTube channel, Shi has indicated that Wolves will attempt to bring in fresh faces if Nuno Espirito Santo wishes to strengthen his squad.

Shi said: "We are always ready to invest, don't worry about it. If we need to strengthen the squad, we have the capacity to do it – immediately, in January.

"We want to do the right deal. We understand our squad is still growing, but if we want to compete at a higher level, we need to give Nuno and the team more support."

Wolves are likely to prioritise a new centre-back after Willy Boly sustained a broken ankle last weekend.
