West Ham United nearing deal for Jack Wilshere?

West Ham United are reportedly close to securing a deal to sign former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on a free transfer.

West Ham United have reportedly moved closer to signing Jack Wilshere on a free transfer.

Last month, Wilshere revealed that he was ending his long-term association with Arsenal after being told by new boss Unai Emery that he would only be used as a fringe player at the Emirates Stadium.

Wilshere's availability has resulted in interest from both home and abroad but according to Sky Sports News, the England international is likely to choose to remain in London.

West Ham are looking to make a major impact in the transfer window this summer and have seemingly moved to meet the demands of the 26-year-old, who is looking for regular first-team football.

During the most recent campaign, Wilshere made a total of 38 appearances, although only 12 starts and eight substitute outings came in the Premier League.

New Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini has already strengthened his squad with the acquisitions of Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks and Toulouse centre-back Issa Diop.
