David Moyes: 'Home form will be key to survival hopes'

West Ham United boss David Moyes hopes that his side's solid home form since the turn of the year will help drag them over the safety line in the next two months.

David Moyes has talked up the importance of West Ham United's home form between now and the end of the season, as they attempt to steer clear of the relegation zone.

The Hammers have sleepwalked their way back into danger following three successive defeats on their travels, shipping a combined nine goals and scoring three.

Six of United's remaining nine matches are at the London Stadium, however, where they have yet to lose in five matches this calendar year.

Starting with this weekend's visit of Burnley, Moyes is hoping to accumulate a further 10 points for West Ham to retain their Premier League status.

"We have had good results at our stadium and we have got to make that count," he told reporters ahead of Saturday's clash. "We have got six games remaining at home this season and we think that in those six games we can accumulate enough points to stay in the Premier League.

"Tomorrow is the first of them. The players know exactly what is required and what we need to do. I hope that having played so many away games at the start, our home games will now help us going into the run-in. I think 40 points has always tended to be the safe bet. If you get 40 then you are pretty much there. We have got 10 points to go.

"It is that tight. Sometimes, you think your position gives you a cushion but it is not. You need the points to get the cushion. We are all fighting really hard for points. It is the most competitive and teams are doing all they can to make sure they stay up. It is going to be tight. It is probably going to go to the last day for many teams."

West Ham, currently three points above the dropzone, have a three-week gap between games after facing Burnley.
