How West Ham United could line up for their first game back

Sports Mole looks at how West Ham United could line up for their first Premier League game back against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

West Ham United will resume their 2019-20 Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on June 20.

David Moyes's side will be determined to pick up a positive result as they currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference.

The Hammers have only won one of their last nine top-flight fixtures, though, and will enter the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on March 7.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how West Ham could line up in their first match back.

Doubtful: Jack Wilshere (groin), Ryan Fredericks (shoulder), Andriy Yarmolenko (abductor)

West Ham's squad is in good shape ahead of their return to competitive action, with the lockdown period allowing three first-team players to return to full fitness.

Indeed, Jack Wilshere, Ryan Fredericks and Andriy Yarmolenko all faced battles to play again this season due to their injury problems, but the trio are now back in training alongside their teammates.

It seems unlikely that Wilshere or Yarmolenko will start against Wolves, but Fredericks is expected to be handed the spot at right-back despite some encouraging performances from Jeremy Ngakia.

Michail Antonio could join Sebastian Haller as part of a front two, while Declan Rice and Pablo Fornals are both expected to feature as part of a midfield four.

On-loan midfielder Tomas Soucek returned from injury to feature off the bench against Arsenal last time out and is in line to start in the middle of the park, while Felipe Anderson could be handed a spot in a wide area.

Manuel Lanzini is another option for Moyes, but the Argentina international has struggled this season and could be on the bench alongside the likes of Wilshere, Yarmolenko and Jarrod Bowen.
