Ashley Williams: 'No plans for Wales retirement'

Defender Ashley Williams says that he has no plans to retire from international football with Wales, despite the nation's failure to qualify for the World Cup.

Defender Ashley Williams has revealed that he has no plans to end his involvement with Wales.

After Wales failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, defensive teammate James Collins retired from international football, while speculation persists over the future of boss Chris Coleman.

However, ahead of the friendly internationals with France and Panama, the Everton centre-back - who has won 75 caps for the Dragons - has suggested that he wants to continue playing for his country for as long as possible.

The 33-year-old told reporters: "It was devastating [not qualifying] but I'm enjoying the camp and, as long as it stays like that, I'm willing to give my services.

"As hard as it was to take, I'm here now and I can't wait to be involved and, as long as it stays like that, I can't see anything changing any time soon."

Williams has recently received support from boss Coleman after an inconsistent run of form.
