Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League Two clash between Swindon Town and Sutton United, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two sides separated by just one point and one place in the League Two standings square off as Swindon Town and Sutton United lock horns at the County Ground Stadium on Tuesday.

Having picked up a hard-fought 2-1 victory when the sides met back in October's reverse fixture, the Snipes will head into the game seeking to complete a league double over the hosts.

Match preview

Swindon Town moved into the promotion playoff places last Saturday when they snatched a late 1-0 win against a resilient Oldham Athletic side on home turf.

It was late drama at the County Ground as club captain Dion Conroy came up clutch, scoring a 96th-minute winner to condemn the Latics to a second consecutive defeat.

This followed a 3-1 defeat at Exeter City on March 8, when Jevani Brown, Jonathan Grounds and Matt Jay put the Grecians in a commanding three-goal lead before Jack Payne scored a 93rd-minute consolation.

After managing just two wins from their first nine games of the year, Swindon Town head into Sunday's game on a run of five wins from their last seven outings, scoring an impressive 16 goals and keeping four clean sheets in that time.

This upturn in form has seen Ben Garner's side rise to sixth place in the League Two standings with 58 points from 36 games, one point and one place above Tuesday's visitors just inside the playoffs places.

Sutton United, on the other hand, were denied a third league win on the bounce last time out when they fell to a slender 1-0 against Walsall at the Bescot Stadium.

In a game where clear-cut chances were at a premium, 27-year-old forward Conor Wilkinson made no mistake from 12 yards as he converted his 33rd-minute penalty with aplomb to hand the hosts all three points.

Prior to that, Sutton United booked their place in the Football League Trophy final when they saw off Wigan Athletic 7-6 in a nervy penalty shootout following 1-1 draw in 120 minutes.

While Matt Gray's men will be seeking to quickly move on from their defeat against the Saddlers, they have struggled for form on the road in recent weeks, managing just one win from their last eight away games in the league.

Team News

Swindon Town head into Tuesday's game with several injury concerns down the spine of the team as the likes of Ben Gladwin and Louie Barry continue their spells on the sidelines.

Another name on the club's injury list is Australian midfielder Jordan Lyden, who has been out of action since sustaining an injury against Exeter on February 5.

They will also have to make do with the absence of Harry McKirdy, who is currently fourth in the League Two top scorers charts, as the 24-year-old is set to sit out his third game through a muscle problem.

Meanwhile, Gray will be unable to call upon the services of Jon Barden after the 29-year-old defender came off injured versus Forest Green Rovers on February 12.

English forward Isaac Olaofe, who is currently joint top scorer for the Snipes this season with seven goals, will also play no part in Tuesday's game through injury.

Donovan Wilson and Harry Beautyman picked up game-ending injuries against Walsall last time out and should they fail to make it in time for Tuesday's game we could see Omar Buigel and Robert Milsom take their place in the XI respectively.

Swindon Town possible starting lineup:
Wollacott; Hunt; O'Brien, Conroy, Odimayo; Aguiar. Reed, Iandolo; Payne, Davison, Mitchell-Lawson

Sutton United possible starting lineup:
Nelson; Kizzi, Goodliffe, Rowe, Wyatt; Boldewijn, Eastmond; Milsom, Korboa, Buigel, Bennett

We say: Swindon Town 1-1 Sutton United

Sutton United will be looking to quickly bounce back to winning ways after their slender defeat against Walsall on Saturday. However, they go up against a solid Swindon Town side who have won three of their last four home games. With just one point between the sides in the table, we expect a cagey affair on Tuesday with the spoils being shared at the sound of the full-time whistle.
