Paul Lambert attracted to Stoke City's "stability"

New Stoke City boss Paul Lambert says that he was partly attracted to the job at the Bet365 Stadium due to the club's "stability".

New Stoke City boss Paul Lambert has suggested that he is delighted to have joined a club who give time to their managers.

Since 2006, only Tony Pulis and Mark Hughes have been in charge of the Potters, which is in stark contrast to Lambert's short-term spells at both Blackburn Rovers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Lambert has acknowledged that he must "start quickly" given the club's current plight, but the Scot is confident of moving the team away from trouble in the Premier League standings.

At a press conference, the 48-year-old said: "The stability of the club is a big attraction. You can see how the pressure affects managers in football clubs who are chopping and changing all the time so I'm delighted to be here.

"I've got to start quickly. There are 15 games remaining. I thought we played all right last night, there are some really good things to work on and my time starts on Saturday."

Lambert's first fixture is at home to Huddersfield Town, who sit four points above Stoke in the table.
