Bayern Munich have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of defender Eric Dier.

The 29-year-old has been made surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season under the expansive and progressive leadership of Ange Postecoglou.

Featuring just four times in the Premier League - starting on just the single occasion - Dier has fallen behind the likes of Cristian Romero and summer arrival Micky van de Ven in the pecking order.

Since joining from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon for £4m in August 2014, the centre-back has played 365 matches for the Lilywhites, scoring 13 goals.

According to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have negotiated a verbal agreement with Spurs for the services of Dier.

The report claims that the 49-time international will put pen to paper on an 18-month contract at the Allianz Arena, with the Bavarians possessing the option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

Dier's current contract in North London is due to expire at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, and Tottenham are set to cash in on the player before losing him for nothing in the summer.

It is understood that Thomas Tuchel's men will pay £3.5m for Englishman, who last started a competitive match for Spurs back on November 11 in the defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Although the deal between the Lilywhites and Bayern is not complete just yet, it is believed that Dier will join his compatriot Harry Kane at the Bundesliga champions.

Postecoglou is said to have given the green light for Dier's switch as Spurs have beaten the Bavarians in the race for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

The North Londoners reportedly launched a fresh bid for the Romania international and he will now be announced as a Tottenham player imminently.

Dragusin is set to join Germany's Timo Werner at Postecoglou's side, with the former Chelsea striker moving to Spurs on loan from RB Leipzig for the remainder of the season.

After losing all-time leading goalscorer Kane to Bayern in the summer for around £100m, Tottenham have battled on without a recognised central striker, with Richarlison often at the focal point of the attack.

Werner and Dragusin could make their debuts for the Lilywhites when they travel to face Erik ten Hag's Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. body check tags ::
