Mauricio Pochettino tips Harry Kane to break Premier League goalscoring record

Mauricio Pochettino says that Harry Kane's willingness to improve will see him continue setting goalscoring records on a regular basis.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that "special" striker Harry Kane has the ability to break every record in his sight.

The 24-year-old is creating history on a weekly basis this term, recently earning the tag as top scorer in a single calendar year in the Premier League en route to outscoring Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2017.

Kane's latest achievement was reached on Saturday evening, as he netted a brace against Everton to overtake Teddy Sheringham as Tottenham's leading goalscorer in the Premier League era.

Pochettino is confident that the records will continue falling, with 12 more goals required for the most scored in a single campaign in the competition's history.

"He can do everything because of his mentality and how he is as a professional. He can achieve all he wishes and he wants," Pochettino told reporters.

"It is unbelievable the way that he is able to work and his willingness. He is always thinking to try to improve, improve, improve, score goals and improve for the team.

"His mentality is always collective and that is always important to explain. He has scored a lot of goals but his mentality is to help the team, work for the team, and that is what makes him a special player."

Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez hold the record for most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season, each netting 31 times.
