Harry Kane: 'Tottenham Hotspur were on fire against Stoke City'

Harry Kane believes that Tottenham Hotspur were "on fire" after the floodgates opened in their 5-1 Premier League win over Stoke City on Saturday.

Harry Kane has lauded Tottenham Hotspur's performance in their 5-1 win over Stoke City, describing his side as being "on fire".

A Ryan Shawcross own goal put Spurs ahead midway through the first half and Son Heung-min doubled the lead soon after the break before Kane added two more and Christian Eriksen made it five.

The Lilywhites had struggled for form in the Premier League prior to Saturday's match at Wembley Stadium, and Kane insists that the rout is the perfect tonic ahead of the busy festive period.

"That was what we needed, we had to get the first goal, we did that and that was it, we were on fire from there," the 24-year-old told BBC Sport.

"It's strange, over the last couple of years we struggled against Stoke, but coming off a few bad results we were always going to be up for it.

"Son was very good. He got the first goal and it was a great finish for the second, that set us on our way and got everyone firing. We look forward to the busy period now."

The result moves Spurs above rivals Arsenal and into fifth place in the table on goal difference.
