Spain's Iago Aspas hails "great moment"

Spain forward Iago Aspas reveals his delight after scoring his first World Cup goal in Monday's 2-2 draw with Morocco.

Spain forward Iago Aspas has revealed his delight after scoring his first World Cup goal in Monday's 2-2 draw with Morocco.

La Roja needed the intervention of VAR to secure a late point against Morocco, with Aspas's effort being awarded on review having initially been ruled offside.

The strike was Aspas's first in the finals of a World Cup, and the Celta Vigo forward has said that "it was a special moment" to score in front of his family in the Group B clash.

"It was a really great moment for me, I was so happy," Marca quotes Aspas as saying. "My family were all here in the stadium watching me and this was my first World Cup, so it was a special moment.

"It was also hugely important of course in terms of us winning the group but at the time, with Portugal winning, we were in real danger of going out. It is not only Spain who are struggling, but Argentina, Germany and Brazil too. We have not yet lost, do not forget."

Spain will take on Group A runners-up Morocco in the last-16 stage of the competition on July 1.
