Alan Dzagoev to miss Russia's last two group games

Russia attacker Alan Dzagoev will play no further part in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup after picking up a hamstring injury against Saudi Arabia.

Russia attacker Alan Dzagoev will play no further part in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup after picking up a hamstring injury during his nation's 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Thursday night.

The CSKA Moscow midfielder suffered the issue in the first half of the opening match last week, and was replaced by Denis Cheryshev, who went on to score twice for the tournament hosts.

The 28-year-old will not face either Egypt or Uruguay in Russia's next two Group A fixtures, but could yet play a part in the knockout stages if the hosts make it, according to Sky Sports News.

The nation's next clash with Egypt will take place on June 19, before facing Uruguay on June 25.

Russia have never been past the group stage of a World Cup - also exiting the competition in the first round in 1994, 2002 and 2014.
