Republic of Ireland pair Kevin Kilbane, James McClean critical of Declan Rice

Kevin Kilbane and James McClean both criticise Declan Rice's decision to take time over whether he wants to represent Republic of Ireland or England.

West Ham United defender Declan Rice has been criticised over his decision to ask for time to consider his international future.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has revealed that Rice was excluded from his latest squad due to the youngster deliberating over whether to represent the Green Army or look to play for England.

However, Republic of Ireland legend Kevin Kilbane and current player James McClean has both taken to social media to question the 19-year-old's commitment.

In reply, McClean added: "Bang on lad. Representing your country should be an honour and a proud moment."

Rice has already made three appearances for Republic of Ireland, but each outing came in an international friendly and it leaves the defensive-minded player able to switch allegiances.
