Zinedine Zidane "not bothered" by Real Madrid defeat to Barcelona

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane admits that he is "not bothered" following the club's closely-fought 3-2 friendly defeat to La Liga rivals Barcelona in Miami.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has insisted that the club's 3-2 friendly loss to arch rivals Barcelona will not distract his team from preparing for the forthcoming season.

Real found themselves two goals down inside seven minutes in Miami, but goals from Mateo Kovacic and Marco Asensio brought Los Blancos level, before Gerard Pique eventually went on to grab a winner for Ernesto Valverde's side.

"This is pre-season and I'm sure that the results we've achieved weren't what we were expecting, but this doesn't alter anything," Zidane told the club's official website.

"The important thing is to be ready for August 8. I saw some good things out there, but also some things I didn't like.

"We've got to be patient, work hard and be ready for the UEFA Super Cup [against Manchester United]. I'm not bothered by the defeat. It always hurts, we don't like to lose but that's not the most important thing. We need to improve and change a few things."

Zidane led Madrid to both a La Liga and Champions League crown during this first full season in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.
