Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record between Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid ahead of their Champions League last-16 first leg.

Carlo Ancelotti will take his Real Madrid side to Paris on Tuesday evening, with the Spanish giants looking to secure an advantage in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

There is no comparing the two teams when it comes to success in the European Cup, with Real Madrid the most successful team in the competition with 13 trophies, while PSG are still waiting for their first silverware in Europe's leading tournament.

PSG have reached the final and semi-finals in their last two participations, though, and will be desperate to go a step further than 2019-20, when they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the final.

The contest is arguably the standout tie in the round of 16 this season, with the two sides locking horns in Paris for the first leg on Tuesday before the reverse fixture at Bernabeu on March

Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at the overall head-to-head record between the two sides.

In all, the two teams have locked horns on 10 occasions in European football, and Real Madrid lead the head-to-head record with four victories to PSG's three, while there have also been three draws.

The last two meetings between the two sides came during the group stage of the 2019-20 Champions League, with PSG recording a 3-0 victory in Paris, before the points were shared in a 2-2 draw at Bernabeu two months later.

The pair also locked horns in the last-16 stage of the 2017-18 competition, with Real Madrid winning 3-1 at home in the first leg and 2-1 in Paris in the second leg one month later to secure a 5-2 aggregate victory.

Their first ever contests in the Champions League actually came during the 2015-16 competition, with the pair playing out a goalless draw in France in October before a first-half goal from Nacho secured a 1-0 victory in the return game in the Spanish capital at the start of November.

The two teams also met in the quarter-final stage of the 1993-94 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, with PSG triumphing on this occasion, winning 1-0 in Madrid courtesy of an effort from George Weah before claiming a 1-1 draw in the second leg to secure a 2-1 aggregate success.

PSG were also victorious in the first two-legged affair between the two teams, running out 5-4 aggregate winners in the quarter-finals of the 1992-93 UEFA Cup.

Real Madrid actually won the first leg of their UEFA Cup last-eight affair 3-1, but PSG posted their highest ever victory over Los Blancos in the return, recording a 4-1 success to turn the tie around.

PSG have won two, drawn two and lost just one of their five previous home games against Real Madrid, but the Spanish outfit's only success in Paris came at this stage of the 2017-18 competition, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Casemiro on the scoresheet in a 2-1 victory. body check tags ::
