Rangers have announced the signing of midfielder Mohamed Diomande from Danish club Nordsjaelland, subject to international clearance.

The 22-year-old joins the Gers on an initial loan deal until the end of the season, with an obligation to buy in the summer for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £4.3m.

Diomande, who will wear the No.42 shirt, has agreed a long-term contract that runs until 2028 and he will arrive in Glasgow as soon as he receives his work permit.

The Ivorian becomes Philippe Clement's second signing of the January transfer window after Fabio Silva, who has joined on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Speaking to Rangers' official website after completing his move to Ibrox, Diomande said: "I am very excited to join such a historic club and I've heard a lot of good things about the team.

"I had a lot of great conversations with the manager who told me about his plans for the team and where I would fit in, which helped convince me that Rangers was right for me.

"I really can't wait to get started, join up with my teammates, and run out at Ibrox for the very first time in front of the Rangers supporters."

Clement added: "I am really pleased to have been able to add Mohamed to our squad, and I am excited to see what he can bring to our team.

"In our conversations and what I have seen of him as a player, I believe he will be a real asset to us, not only in what remains of this season, but in the seasons to come also.

"I look forward to welcoming him to Glasgow, and to working with him on the training pitch soon."

Director of Recruitment Nils Koppen, added: "As a recruitment department, we are very pleased to add Mohamed to our Rangers squad after a long and thorough process.

"After analysing data, video and live games over a long period of time, we are convinced that he will add something extra with his high level of athleticism, creative play and strong defensive work.

"I look forward seeing him play in a Rangers jersey and be a part of the amazing Rangers family."

Diomande began his career at the Right to Dream football academy in Ghana, which has produced some of the brightest African talents in the game including Mohammed Kudus, Simon Adingra and Kamaldeen Sulemana.

The midfielder then joined Nordsjaelland in February 2020 and he went on to establish himself as a first-team regular with the Danish Superliga club, contributing with 13 goals and 14 assists in 111 appearances.

Diomande helped Nordsjaelland finished at the summit of the regular season league standings last term, and he leaves the club this month sitting fifth in the table, nine points behind leaders Midtjylland.

Clement is hopeful that Diomande will receive his work permit and arrive in Glasgow within the next few days, meaning that the midfielder could make his debut for Rangers in a Scottish Premiership clash at home to Livingston on February 3. body check tags ::
