Neymar ankle injury raises concern for PSG ahead of Manchester United tie

The Brazilian faces a possible repeat of last season's Champions League last-16 absence.

Paris St Germain face an anxious wait for news on Neymar's fitness after the forward went off injured against Strasbourg in the Coupe de France.

The Brazil star rolled his right ankle in the second half and was reportedly in tears as he left the field and headed back to the dressing room.

The incident comes less than three weeks before PSG take on Manchester United in the Champions League last 16, and with Neymar having missed last season's clash with Real Madrid at the same stage due to a sprained right ankle and fractured metatarsal.

He was taken to hospital on Wednesday night and head coach Thomas Tuchel told Canal+: "The doc gave me the news. He was worried, Ney was worried, because it's the same foot again.

"(There is) no news at the moment, he is at the hospital. We have to wait and see."

Neymar's team-mates were in the dark as to his condition after the match.

Strike partner Edinson Cavani told television station France 3: "I don't know why he went off. We need everyone for the next games. I hope it's nothing serious and he can return quickly."

Eric Choupo-Moting, when told by reporters that Neymar was crying as he left the field, responded: "Oh really? Of course, that's worrying because we need him, he's a very, very big player who can make the difference.

"If he is really injured, if he was crying...we will cross our fingers that it's nothing serious."

PSG won Wednesday's tie 2-0 with goals from Cavani and Angel Di Maria.
