Nottingham Forest forward Britt Assombalonga to undergo Middlesbrough medical?

Nottingham Forest forward Britt Assombalonga reportedly arrives in the North-East to undergo a medical at Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough have reportedly moved to the brink of completing the signing of Nottingham Forest forward Britt Assombalonga.

It has previously been claimed that the Championship outfit were competing with Burnley and Watford for a player who is regarded as one of the best in the second tier.

Burnley had been expected to table an improved bid for the 24-year-old but according to the Northern Echo, Boro have all but sealed his services.

It has been suggested that Assombalonga is currently in the North-East to undergo a medical and having already agreed personal terms, he should seal the switch in the coming hours.

The reported fee of £15m would top what Boro paid for Afonso Alves back in 2008, and it would represent a significant coup for new boss Garry Monk.

Last week, Boro revealed that they had paid £9m to sign Martin Braithwaite from Toulouse to add to the arrivals of Cyrus Christie and Jonny Howson.
