Newcastle United and Andy Carroll are both reportedly open to a reunion during the summer transfer window.

Having been released by West Ham United at the end of last season, Carroll remains available on a free transfer ahead of the new campaign.

Clubs from abroad have been linked with a move for the Englishman, although it appears that the 30-year-old holds a desire to return to his former club.

According to Chronicle Live, the frontman is willing to take on a second spell at St James' Park, a move which also interests newly-appointed boss Steve Bruce.

Despite having signed Joelinton for a club-record fee, Newcastle are short of numbers in the final third, meaning that bringing in Carroll with no transfer fee involved could appeal to the North-East outfit.

Carroll netted 33 goals from 91 appearances for Newcastle before signing for Liverpool in a £35m deal in 2011.
