Newcastle United confirm DeAndre Yedlin knee injury not serious

The knee injury suffered by Newcastle United full-back DeAndre Yedlin in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur is "not serious," the Magpies have confirmed.

Newcastle United have confirmed that a knee injury picked up by full-back DeAndre Yedlin at the weekend is not serious.

The 25-year-old fell awkwardly while challenging for the ball late in the second half of Saturday's Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Although Yedlin received lengthy treatment on the pitch before slowly limping off, tests have shown that the damage was not as bad as was first feared.

"The club can confirm that the knee injury sustained by DeAndre Yedlin on Saturday was not serious," the Magpies announced in a statement on their website.

"The USA international defender limped off towards the end of United's season opener against Tottenham Hotspur.

"However, he has been assessed and undergone treatment this week and is likely to resume training with his teammates shortly."

Yedlin remains a doubt for this weekend's trip to newly-promoted Cardiff City.
