How Mexico could line up against Poland

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Mexico could line up for Tuesday's World Cup 2022 Group C clash with Poland.

Mexico manager Gerardo Martino has a major dilemma on his hands in terms of deciding whether to start Raul Jimenez against Poland on Tuesday.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers striker, who has scored 29 goals for his national team, made his first appearance for almost three months after coming on at half time in a 2-1 friendly defeat against Sweden on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old has not played for his club since August due to a groin issue, but he has been training hard in his homeland ahead of the World Cup and will be hoping to receive the nod ahead of Henry Martin in attack.

With Jesus Corona ruled out of the tournament entirely due to injury, Alexis Vega and Napoli's Hirving Lozano will almost certainly flank which ever number nine Martino chooses to start through the middle.

Andres Guardado and Guillermo Ochoa will both be hoping to join a select list - including compatriot Rafael Marquez - of players to have appeared at five separate World Cup's, with fellow 100-plus capped players Hector Herrera and Hector Moreno potentially alongside them in an experienced starting XI.

Ajax's Edson Alvarez, who was Mexico's youngest player at the last World Cup in Russia, will look to impress at the base of midfield after enjoying an excellent individual domestic campaign so far.

Mexico possible starting lineup: Ochoa; Sanchez, Montes, Moreno, Gallardo; Alvarez, Herrera, Guardado; Lozano, Martin, Vega
