Wolverhampton Wanderers have allegedly identified Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a January transfer target.

With the club sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, newly-appointed head coach Julen Lopetegui has admitted that he wants to make changes to his first-team squad.

More recently, it has been claimed that the Spaniard is keen to sign as many as six new players in a bid to change his side's fortunes on the pitch.

Wolves are known to be in the market for a new centre-back and centre-forward, Lopetegui revealing that he is an admirer of Atletico Madrid pair Felipe and Matheus Cunha.

However, the West Midlands outfit have struggled in many areas since the beginning of August, making it possible that other positions will be targeted.

According to the Express & Star, Wolves are taking an interest in Wan-Bissaka's situation at Man United.

The 25-year-old has been restricted to just four minutes of football all season, that substitute outing coming against Liverpool on August 22.

Since then, Wan-Bissaka has watched Diogo Dalot establish himself as Erik ten Hag's preferred choice in that role, leaving Wan-Bissaka out in the cold.

There is every expectation that the situation will not change for the better as far as Wan-Bissaka is concerned, leading to Ten Hag being open to his exit at the turn of the year.

In terms of generating a transfer fee, United remain in a strong position with the player having just over 18 months remaining on his existing terms, as well as the club being in a position where they can activate a 12-month option.

What is unclear at this stage is whether United would contemplate a loan departure as well as a sale, with any interested clubs expected to pay a large portion of Wan-Bissaka's wages.

The report suggests that Wolves could face competition from Wan-Bissaka's former club Crystal Palace, Leeds United and West Ham United.

Despite falling out of favour at United, Wan-Bissaka has still accumulated 127 outings for the club since his £50m transfer in 2019.
