Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly "already discussing" Mason Greenwood's situation at Manchester United, with the forward currently impressing on loan at Getafe.

Last January, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The 22-year-old was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but there is no longer a case against him, with all charges being dropped earlier this year.

Man United had allegedly made the decision to bring him back into the fold for the 2023-24 campaign but were forced to change their mind due to the public backlash, and he was instead sent on loan to Getafe.

The Englishman has scored four goals and registered three assists in 12 appearances for the La Liga club, as he attempts to rebuild his career following a period out of the game.

Journalist Jamie Jackson recently claimed that there could be a route back into the Man United first team for Greenwood despite accepting that it was highly unlikely.

Greenwood has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2025, and as it stands, he will be heading back to Man United next summer before a decision is made on his future.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ratcliffe, who is preparing to purchase 25% of Man United, is "already discussing Greenwood's situation internally", with further talks planned in 2024 to determine their position when it comes to the forward.

"Incoming co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is already discussing Greenwood's situation internally, and from what I'm told, he's made no decision at all and nothing will be decided in December," Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside.

"So the idea is to take some time and just let Greenwood play football. Then, based on his performances for Getafe, Man United will discuss their position and that of the player. This will likely take place in March, April or May.

"There will be many different factors to consider, and obviously the new Man United board will have a new CEO and new people in charge of the transfer market, meaning that they will all decide on transfer business together."

Greenwood has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 matches for Man United, with his last outing for the club coming against West Ham United in January 2022.

Getafe are said to be desperate to sign him on a permanent basis next summer, but Real Sociedad and Valencia are believed to be leading the Spanish interest in the forward. body check tags ::
