Manchester United are reportedly prepared to submit a £45m bid for Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

The Red Devils appear to be considering potential replacements for David de Gea, who could leave Old Trafford at the end of the month.

The Spaniard, who signed for Man United in 2011, is out of contract in a fortnight, and the club have decided against activating a one-year extension.

Instead, the 20-time English champions have been working on a new longer-term deal that would result in De Gea taking a significant pay cut.

Man United were previously confident of agreeing a new contract, but that belief looks to have ebbed away in recent weeks, with De Gea unwilling to lower his £375,000-a-week salary.

De Gea was not included in Man United's retained list, and unless a new deal can be agreed, he will leave Man United at the end of June.

Man United could enter the transfer market for a new goalkeeper, and they may have their sights set on the England number one.

According to the Daily Star, Pickford has been identified as a replacement for De Gea, with Man United set to table a £45m bid.

The report claims that Erik ten Hag is keen to sign the Everton goalkeeper due to his shot-stopping credentials and his ability to play out from the back.

The Toffees, who avoided relegation on the final day of the season, have a substantial wage bill and are keen to raise funds as a result.

Man United are hoping that a £45m offer could be enough to tempt the Toffees to part ways with their first-choice goalkeeper, who has spent six years with the club.

Pickford signed a new four-and-a-year deal in February, extending his stay with the Merseyside club until the summer of 2027.

The 29-year-old kept a clean sheet in England's 4-0 win over Malta on Friday, and he is expected to start in goal for Monday's fixture against North Macedonia. body check tags ::
