Manchester United are reportedly planning to boost their squad this summer with free transfers.

The Red Devils will not be in the Champions League next season, with the club instead battling to secure a spot in the group stage of the 2022-23 Europa League.

Incoming head coach Erik ten Hag will be given funds to improve the squad during this summer's transfer window, with a number of players set to leave Old Trafford during an overhaul.

However, according to The Sun, Man United are currently scouting for free transfers, as the 20-time English champions will not have 'a bottomless pit of cash' in the upcoming market.

The report claims that Ten Hag will have around £100m to spend on new players, but the club will also look to make use of the free agent market ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Ousmane Dembele's contract at Barcelona will expire at the end of June, and the Red Devils continue to be credited with an interest in the France international.

Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala is set to leave Juventus on a free transfer at the end of June, with the Italy international being strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks.

Marseille's Boubacar Kamara has also been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, as the Frenchman prepares to leave his Ligue 1 club on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.

There will be huge changes at Old Trafford this summer, with a number of players preparing to leave the club, including Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard, who will depart on free transfers.

The futures of the likes of Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Phil Jones, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are also unclear, as a disappointing season draws to a close.

Man United suffered a 4-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday, which has left them down in sixth position in the table, three points ahead of seventh-placed West Ham United, who have a game in hand.

The Red Devils will finish their league campaign away to Crystal Palace on May 22, while West Ham will take on Manchester City and Brighton in their last two matches of the season.

Ten Hag will officially begin work with Man United at the end of the season, with the Dutchman still having two matches left in charge of Ajax, who are bidding to win the Eredivisie title ahead of PSV Eindhoven.

Red Devils interim head coach Ralf Rangnick will become a consultant for the Premier League club this summer, but the German is also set to take charge of the Austrian national side, balancing both roles moving forward. body check tags ::
