Liverpool prepare to battle Chelsea for the signature of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to battle Chelsea for the signature of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni during this summer's transfer window.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for his Ligue 1 club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring twice in 28 appearances in all competitions, while he is also now a key player for France.

Chelsea continue to be strongly linked with the midfielder, with the Blues said to be running 'in-depth scouting' on the former Bordeaux youngster.

However, according to The Athletic, Liverpool are also interested in Tchouameni, who has two-and-a-half years left to run on his contract with his Ligue 1 club.

The report claims that the Reds view the midfielder as the ideal signing amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.

Tchouameni, who has also previously been linked with Manchester United, has scored five times and registered four assists in 73 appearances for Monaco in all competitions. body check tags ::
