Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a proposed move to Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.

The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for his Italian club during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 43 occasions in all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists in the process.

The defender's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Man United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain among the clubs to be linked with his services.

Man United are seemingly at the head of the queue for the South Korean, who allegedly has a €50m (£43.9m) release clause in his current deal, which can be activated between July 1 and July 15.

According to Il Mattino, Kim has already come to an agreement with the 20-time English champions over personal terms, while Napoli have started to look for a replacement for the defender.

The Red Devils are believed to have tabled a 'colossal' contract offer, with the South Korean determined to make the move to Old Trafford during the upcoming market.

Kim has featured on 33 occasions during Napoli's Serie A title-winning campaign, scoring twice and providing two assists, while he also played nine times in the Champions League.

The centre-back's current deal is due to run until June 2025, but there is an option to extend the contract for a further two years until the summer of 2027.

The alleged presence of the release clause for the first two weeks in July has made Napoli vulnerable, though, and Man United are seemingly prepared to take advantage of the situation.

The centre-back made the move to Napoli from Fenerbahce last summer, while he has also represented Gyeongju KHNP, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Beijing Guoan.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have formed an impressive partnership in the middle of the Man United defence this season, while Luke Shaw has also impressed when asked to feature as a centre-back.

There is expected to be a major centre-back outgoing this summer, though, with Harry Maguire likely to be the player to move on due to his struggles for action.

There will also be departures for Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe, while Eric Bailly is expected to be sold after returning from a loan spell at Marseille.

Victor Lindelof's future has also been called into question, although Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag is said to be keen to keep hold of the Sweden international.
