Shanghai Shenhua forward Odion Ighalo is reportedly confident that he will become a Manchester United player before the January transfer window closes for business.

The Nigeria international has allegedly emerged as United's leading target as the English giants attempt to bring a new striker to the club before Friday night's deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, Ighalo is 'increasingly optimistic' that he will secure a loan move to Old Trafford over the next few hours.

Marcus Rashford's back injury has left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side frantically attempting to sign a new forward to compete with Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood in the final third of the field.

Bournemouth's Joshua King and Norwich City's Teemu Pukki have also been linked with moves to the 20-time English champions, although neither is expected to arrive before the end of the night.

Ighalo has experience of English football having turned out for Watford between 2014 and 2017, scoring 40 times in 100 appearances for the Hornets in all competitions. body check tags ::
