Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly agreed to commit his long-term future to Manchester United.

Having starred in the Under-18 setup at United, there had been anticipation as to whether the prospect could live up to his potential in the senior ranks.

The 18-year-old has, so far, delivered under Erik ten Hag, with nine starts and 16 substitute outings being made since the Dutchman's arrival ahead of this campaign.

During that time, Garnacho has chipped in with three goals and four assists, his strikes being notable efforts at Real Sociedad, Fulham and Leeds United respectively.

However, despite Garnacho having been handed frequent opportunities, it has remained uncertain whether he sees his future at Old Trafford.

The Argentina Under-20s international has just over 16 months remaining on his existing terms, although United do possess an option to extend that deal by a further year.

Nevertheless, according to ESPN, United are closing in on finalising an agreement over a new contract with the teenager.

The report suggests that only issues relating to image rights are preventing a formal announcement of the developments behind the scenes.

Garnacho has allegedly agreed to pen terms which will run through to the end of the 2027-28 season, United effectively making it a four-year extension.

As well as receiving a natural pay rise, Garnacho's wages will allegedly increase as he continues to progress at the Theatre of Dreams.

Should a deal be confirmed in due course, it would leave United to focus on making decisions regarding David de Gea and Marcus Rashford.

If reports are to be believed, United are not certain to activate a 12-month option in De Gea's contract due to wanting to lower his wage, something the Spaniard is allegedly willing to do in order to remain at the club.

Meanwhile, Rashford, who is currently enjoying the best period of his career, has a contract until 2024 and will be offered the chance to pen fresh terms with the guarantee of a substantial pay rise as reward for his recent form. body check tags ::
