Dani Olmo has revealed that he wants to return to Spain "some day" amid suggestions that Barcelona are keen to re-sign the attacker during this summer's transfer window.

The Spaniard spent seven years in Barcelona's academy between 2007 and 2014 before leaving for Dinamo Zagreb, where he started his professional career.

Olmo featured on 124 occasions for the Croatian outfit, scoring 34 goals and contributing 28 assists.

The 24-year-old then joined RB Leipzig in 2020, and he has made 106 appearances for the German outfit, scoring 19 goals and registering 22 assists in the process.

The Spain international only has 18 months left to run on his current deal, though, and there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future.

Barcelona are thought to be interested in bringing him back to Camp Nou, while Manchester United have also been heavily linked with his services.

Olmo has said that he is not currently thinking about his future, but the attacker has expressed a desire to return to play professional football in Spain.

"I have a contract until 2024. Right now I don't think about that, only about the next games. We have three competitions ahead of us," Olmo said in an interview with Bild.

"Things happen so fast in football, things can change all the time. I have my adviser who takes care of it. Me I only focus on football.

"I want to go back to Spain some day, it would be great. It is my country, my league. My family and friends live there. But I am not only tied to Spain.

"The most important thing for me is to play in a club where I feel loved and important. Like here in Leipzig.

"I played for Barcelona for six years when I was young. It will always be a home for me. A lot of my friends from the national team play there."

Olmo represented Spain on four occasions at the 2022 World Cup, scoring once and providing one assist at the competition, as La Roja were eliminated in the round of 16.

This season, meanwhile, he has featured on 14 occasions for Leipzig, scoring three times and registering four assists. body check tags ::
