Manchester City are reportedly prepared to battle Manchester United for the signature of Sandro Tonali.

United are believed to be scouting the Brescia midfielder with the view to a potential swoop next summer.

However, according to Calciomercato, City are also huge admirers of the 19-year-old, who has drawn comparisons in Italy to legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

Tonali starred as Brescia earned promotion from Serie B last season, while the Italy Under-21 international has contributed one assist in five Serie A appearances this term.

The midfielder will see his current deal at Stadio Mario Rigamonti expire in June 2021, although the Italian club do have the option of activating a further 12 months.

City broke their transfer record to sign Rodri from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window, but United failed to improve their options in central midfield ahead of the 2019-20 campaign despite being linked with a number of players.
