Chelsea are reportedly planning to make a £42m bid for Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo during this summer's transfer window.

The 25-year-old has been in excellent form for the Cherries during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring nine goals and registering four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions, including seven goals and three assists in 23 Premier League outings.

Semenyo's performances are believed to have attracted the attention of a number of major clubs, including Liverpool, with Bournemouth facing a battle when it comes to keeping hold of the attacker.

According to Fichajes, there is also significant interest from Chelsea, with the Blues planning to make a £42m move this summer.

Semenyo made the move to Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023, and he has represented the Cherries on 73 occasions, scoring 18 goals and registering six assists in the process.

The forward lacks European experience, but he has now scored 16 goals and registered five assists in 73 Premier League appearances.

Semenyo's rise through the leagues has been remarkable, having played in League Two, League One and the Championship before making the move to the Premier League, and he is now regarded as one of the most dangerous forwards in England's top flight.

Bournemouth are in a strong position when it comes to keeping hold of the Ghana international, though, as his contract is due to run until June 2029, and Andoni Iraola's side are seventh in the Premier League table, challenging for European football for next term.

Newcastle United are also believed to be keen on Semenyo, though, and it will therefore be incredibly difficult for Bournemouth to keep hold of him due to the teams that are showing an interest.

Are Chelsea still interested in Garnacho?

Chelsea were heavily linked with Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho during the January transfer window, with the Argentina international identified as a leading target for the Blues.

However, it is understood that Man United made it clear that offers of under £60m would not be entertained.

Chelsea ultimately decided against making a bid, and it is highly unlikely that both Garnacho and Semenyo would be targeted this summer, so the club's alleged pursuit of the latter could be good news for Man United supporters, who are widely in favour of keeping the 20-year-old.

Enzo Maresca's side are fourth in the Premier League table and in a strong position to qualify for next season's Champions League, but they were knocked out of the FA Cup on Saturday night courtesy of a 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
