Chelsea reportedly remain confident that Mason Mount will eventually sign a new long-term contract.

Since the summer, the new Blues hierarchy have been going through a process of trying to extend the deals of many of their star men.

The renewal of Ben Chilwell's terms earlier this week made it 14 first-team players who now have contracts until at least 2027, while it has been claimed over the past 24 hours that Enzo Fernandez's deal now lasts until 2032.

However, speculation persists regarding the future of Mount, who now has less than 15 months remaining on his deal and is being frequently linked with a move elsewhere.

That is down to an alleged stance that he wants a wage closer to the top earners at the club, but does not want to sign a contract of seven years or more.

As it stands, Todd Boehly and co have not entertained a change to their own offer, leading to negotiations allegedly being halted until the end of the campaign.

Nevertheless, according to 90min, the powers-that-be at Stamford Bridge are confident that they will eventually find a common ground with the England international.

The report says that more talks are scheduled to be held over the coming weeks where it is hope that a compromise can be reached.

Chelsea also allegedly feel that Mount would prefer to be part of their plans for the future, rather than jump at the chance to move elsewhere.

Liverpool, another team who will go through a rebuilding phase in the summer, have been credited with a strong interest in Mount as they bid to refresh their midfield.

Manchester City, Manchester United and clubs from abroad have also been linked with the 24-year-old at different stages, yet it is claimed that Mount is confident that Chelsea will eventually turn a corner under a new manager.

Luis Enrique and Marcelo Gallardo are said to have already held talks over the permanent head coach role, while Julian Nagelsmann has reportedly been invited to stake his own claim.

Chelsea currently face the prospect of a year without European football unless they can overturn a 2-0 deficit against Real Madrid in the Champions League or move from 11th to at least seventh position in the Premier League table. body check tags ::
