Chelsea have reportedly made contact with the representatives of Robert Lewandowski to discuss a possible move for the Bayern Munich striker during this summer's transfer window.

The Poland international has made it clear that he wants to leave Allianz Arena in the current market in search of a fresh challenge.

"My era at Bayern is over. I don't see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore. Bayern's a serious club and I believe they won't keep me, I don't want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don't stop me," Lewandowski recently told reporters.

Barcelona are firmly at the head of the queue for his signature, with the Catalan outfit's president Joan Laporta confirming that a bid has been lodged for the centre-forward.

"You know that we have made an offer for Lewandowski and we're waiting on Bayern's response. I want to thank the player for the effort he's made to come. They're evaluating the offer and we're waiting for the response," Laporta told reporters.

However, there have been claims that the Bundesliga giants would want at least €60m (£52m) to consider selling him this summer, which would be difficult for Barcelona considering their financial problems.

Chelsea will be in the market for a new centre-forward this summer, with Romelu Lukaku returning on loan to Inter Milan for the 2022-23 campaign, and they have been linked with Cristiano Ronaldo, who has allegedly expressed a desire to leave Manchester United.

According to talkSPORT, the Blues have also been in touch with Lewandowski's representatives to discuss a possible switch to Stamford Bridge in the current market.

The report claims that the capital outfit have made it clear to the striker that they are interested and would offer him the chance to move to the club if a switch to Barcelona fell through.

Chelsea are said to have a firm interest in Ronaldo, meanwhile, but it is unlikely that Man United would be prepared to sell to their Premier League rivals.

Lewandowski has scored 344 goals and registered 72 assists in 374 appearances for Bayern in all competitions since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, establishing himself as one of the top forwards in world football during his time in Munich.

He was again in excellent form at club level last term, scoring 50 goals and registered seven assists in 46 appearances, as the German giants won the Bundesliga title.

Man United have also been linked with the striker as a replacement for Ronaldo, but their lack of Champions League football for next season would make a deal extremely difficult.

Chelsea are also allegedly considering a move for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, with Thomas Tuchel's side putting together a shortlist of attacking targets.

Armando Broja is back at Stamford Bridge this summer after an impressive loan spell at Southampton, but it is unclear whether the 20-year-old is in Tuchel's plans for the 2022-23 campaign.
