Former goalkeeper Mark Bosnich claims that Manchester United should sign a proven striker to act as backup to Marcus Rashford.

Former goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has claimed that Manchester United need to sign a "quality" alternative to Marcus Rashford.

Despite the academy graduate having spent a number of months on the sidelines with a back injury, United have been able to call upon Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Odion Ighalo.

However, regardless of their respectable returns in the final third, Bosnich feels that the Premier League giants should be targeting a new frontman during the next transfer window.

The Australian is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "We saw Marcus Rashford's injury, and they had to go and basically get another striker in Ighalo so quickly. I think they need to strengthen in that area to make sure that they have got top quality backup.

"That's not being disrespectful to Ighalo because he's been absolutely fantastic since he's come in. If I had to pick one, it would be there."

Martial, Greenwood and Ighalo have 32 goals between them in all competitions this season.
