Barcelona have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer during this summer's transfer window.
The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Manchester United, scoring three times and registering one assist in 18 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.
The midfielder's season was cut short due to a knee injury, though, with his final appearance proving to be in the 1-0 loss to West Ham United on May 7.
Sabitzer is set to return to Bayern next month for pre-season training, but there is currently widespread speculation surrounding his future at Allianz Arena.
Man United are believed to be open to re-signing the Austria international on a permanent basis, with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag said to have been impressed by his loan spell.
The English club's official website are selling 'Sabitzer 15' shirts, fuelling suggestions that his loan move from Bayern is being made permanent.
However, according to SPORT, Barcelona have now emerged as possible contenders for his signature during this summer's transfer window.
The Catalan outfit recently confirmed the arrival of Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City, but they are still thought to be on the lookout for at least one more central midfielder.
The report claims that Bayern would be willing to accept around €20m (£17.3m) for Sabitzer, who has two years left to run on his contract at Allianz Arena.
The Austrian arrived at Bayern from RB Leipzig in August 2021, and he has made 54 appearances for his current side, scoring twice and registering two assists.
Barcelona have lost long-serving midfielder Sergio Busquets this summer, while there is currently speculation surrounding the future of Franck Kessie.
Man United are also looking to bring in a central midfielder in the current market, with Chelsea's Mason Mount still believed to be the club's leading target in that area of the field.
There is also speculation surrounding the futures of Fred and Scott McTominay, and a departure for either could lead to two new midfielders being signed by the Red Devils in the current market.
