Arsenal's Lino Sousa 'to join Aston Villa on permanent deal'
Arsenal left-back Lino Sousa is reportedly close to joining Aston Villa on a permanent deal.
The highly-rated 19-year-old has been on the books at the Emirates since January 2022, when he left West Bromwich Albion's youth academy to advance his career with the Gunners.
Sousa has made an impression for the Arsenal academy squads, coming up with five goals and one assist in 36 matches for the Under-21s, and he played a key role in the Gunners' run to the FA Youth Cup final last season.
The teenager has trained with Mikel Arteta's first team during his time in North London, but he has only made one Premier League matchday squad against Brentford in September 2022, when he was an unused substitute.

Iraola not expecting Tottenham-linked Solanke to leave
Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has played down suggestions that Dominic Solanke could leave the club before the January transfer window closes for business.
The 26-year-old has been in impressive form for the Cherries during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 14 goals and registering two assists in 24 appearances in all competitions.
Solanke has 12 Premier League goals to his name this term, and it has been claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a £50m bid for him before the winter deadline.
However, Iraola, speaking ahead of Thursday's league contest with West Ham United, said that he is expecting the centre-forward to remain at the Vitality Stadium.

Wolves 'turn attention to Yuri Alberto'
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly turned their attention to trying to sign Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto.
Ever since Wolves allowed each of Fabio Silva and Sasa Kalajdzic to go out on loan, head coach Gary O'Neil has been eager to bring a new striker to Molineux.
Academy graduate Nathan Fraser has provided backup in the short term, the 18-year-old scoring in the FA Cup third-round replay with Brentford earlier this month.
However, Wolves have been heavily linked with acquiring a more experienced alternative to the outgoing pair, Chelsea's Armando Broja seemingly being their preferred target.

AFC Wimbledon sign Kofi Balmer on loan from Crystal Palace
"I can't wait to get started, meet the lads and hopefully have a good run in," he told the club website.
"Ethan Chislett is a character, I really got on with him well at Port Vale, he's had nothing but good things to say about Wimbledon. This was an opportunity that was too good to turn down.
"This is a very tightly orientated club. Everyone's in it together, everyone is going to help you out. If the team was going through a rough time you'd not only have the staff and the players behind you but also the fans. When I came in to speak to the manager the other day I felt wanted."
Manager Johnnie Jackson said: "Kofi is a young, aggressive defender who likes to play on the front foot. He will really fit into our style and everything that we do here. He also has the advantage of League One experience and was really keen to be a part of what we're doing. He will play a key role in helping us to kick on in the second half of the season."
Head of Football Operations Craig Cope added: "We're really excited to bring Kofi to the club, he has a wealth of experience at senior level and suits our style. We'd like to thank Crystal Palace for their support in this window."
Brentford 'want Nusa discount after medical issues'
Brentford are reportedly reluctant to sign Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa for their previously-agreed fee.
Over the weekend, it was claimed that the Bees had emerged as the frontrunners for the sought-after 18-year-old, moving ahead of other Premier League clubs.
A price of £25.6m has allegedly been agreed between the respective clubs with Nusa due to spend the remainder of the campaign in Belgium.
However, it has been widely reported that knee and back issues were identified by Brentford's medical staff when assessing the prospect earlier this week.

Chelsea's Santos 'could join Strasbourg on loan'
Chelsea are reportedly prepared to allow Andrey Santos to link up with Strasbourg on loan.
In the summer, Santos made the temporary switch to Nottingham Forest, the hope being that he would be provided with regular Premier League football.
However, the one-cap Brazil international was given just one brief substitute outing against Liverpool, his only other appearance coming versus Burnley in the EFL Cup.
As a result, it came as no surprise when Chelsea opted to exercise their recall clause at the turn of the year, Mauricio Pochettino revealing that the Blues would take their time before deciding on Santos's next move.

Transfer rumours: Benrahma to Lyon, Idah to Celtic, Butland bid rejected
West Ham United and Lyon have reportedly come to an agreement for the transfer of Algerian attacker Said Benrahma.
The former Brentford winger has been bumped down the pecking order by summer signing Mohammed Kudus this season and has been tipped to seek pastures new for the entirety of the January window.
Links with Marseille, Everton and Saudi Arabia led to nowhere, but according to BBC Sport, Ligue 1 strugglers Lyon have now shaken hands with the Europa Conference League champions over a deal.
The report claims that Benrahma will join the seven-time French champions on an initial loan deal, and Lyon will be obliged to make his stay permanent for £15m at the end of the season.

Virgil van Dijk has reiterated that he remains committed to Liverpool, saying that recent comments had been 'taken out of context'.

As well as 246 appearances being made in all competitions, the Netherlands international has lifted seven pieces of silverware, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.
However, his long-term future on Merseyside has been put into some doubt on the back of Jurgen Klopp announcing his decision to depart Liverpool at the end of the season.

Transfer rumours: Alcaraz to Juventus, Gil to Brighton, Paulista to Atletico
Carlos Alcaraz is reportedly en route to London to undergo a medical with Juventus, as he prepares to join the Italian giants on an initial loan deal from Southampton.
The 21-year-old moved to Southampton from Racing Club in January 2023, and he has made 47 appearances for his current side in all competitions, scoring eight goals and registering five assists.
Alcaraz penned a new long-term deal at St Mary's last October, and he has been a regular this season, making 26 appearances, scoring four goals and registering three assists.

Man United 'attempting to sign Branthwaite before January deadline'
Manchester United are reportedly pushing to sign Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite before the January transfer window closes for business.
There will be changes to the defensive department at Old Trafford this year, with both Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans out of contract in June, while Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire face uncertain futures.
Lisandro Martinez is arguably the only centre-back at the club guaranteed to be there next season, and it is possible that a couple of new players in that area of the field could arrive as part of the rebuild under incoming minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Man United are believed to have a long-term interest in Branthwaite, who has made a strong impression for Everton during the 2023-24 campaign.

Benzema 'to stay in Saudi Arabia despite Premier League interest'
Karim Benzema will reportedly be staying with Al-Ittihad until at least the summer despite the widespread speculation surrounding his future this month.
The 36-year-old surprisingly decided against signing a new contract with Real Madrid last year in order to make the move to Saudi Arabia, penning a three-year deal with Al-Ittihad.
Benzema has scored 12 times and registered five assists in 20 appearances for his current side during the 2023-24 campaign, including nine goals and five assists in 15 Saudi Pro League outings.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding the forward during the January market, though, amid claims that he was keen to return to European football.
