  • Potter 'turns down chance to replace Rangers manager Beale'

Graham Potter has reportedly turned down the opportunity to return to management with Scottish giants Rangers amid uncertainty over the future of Michael Beale.

Following a mass overhaul of the first-team squad in the summer, the Gers have endured an underwhelming start to the new season under Beale, losing two of their first four Premiership matches and suffering elimination in Champions League qualifying.

Rangers suffered defeats to both Kilmarnock and Old Firm rivals Rangers either side of a heavy 7-3 aggregate defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League playoff round, losing the second leg 5-1 in the Netherlands.

Beale has since come under intense scrutiny and Rangers, who are now competing in the Europa League group stage, are allegedly exploring their options as they consider parting company with the 43-year-old just 10 months after his appointment at Ibrox.

Juventus to reignite Partey interest amid Pogba uncertainty?

Juventus could reportedly reignite their interest in Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey amid uncertainty over the future of Paul Pogba.

Pogba has been provisionally suspended from football after testing positive for testosterone following Juve's 3-0 win against Udinese last month, a game in which he watched on as an unused substitute.

The 30-year-old, who returned to Turin from Manchester United on a free transfer last summer, was given until Thursday evening to respond, and the player's agent has since confirmed that he has asked for counter analysis to be made on his positive doping test.

"We are waiting for the counter analysis and until then we can't say anything," Pogba's representative Rafaela Pimenta revealed in a statement as quoted by Sky Sports News.

Liverpool 'not considering Thiago exit amid Turkey interest'

Liverpool are reportedly determined to keep midfielder Thiago Alcantara amid interest from the Turkish Super Lig.

The Reds overhauled their midfield during the summer transfer window, bringing in Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch following a number of departures.

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all left the club, while there were rumours of a possible exit for Thiago.

The 32-year-old reportedly rejected a number of approaches from the Saudi Pro League, indicating his desire to remain at Anfield.

Barcelona 'contact agent of Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams'

Barcelona have reportedly been in contact with the agent of Nico Williams to officially register their interest in signing the Athletic Bilbao and Spain attacker next year.

Williams, who is the younger brother of Athletic forward Inaki Williams, has been with the Lions since 2013, progressing through the various age groups before making his first-team debut in 2021.

The 21-year-old has represented Ernesto Valverde's side on 89 occasions in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and registering 11 assists in the process.

This season, Williams has provided four assists in four La Liga appearances, while he scored and registered an assist in Spain's 7-1 win over Georgia in their Euro 2024 qualifier last week.

Man City confirm Kyle Walker contract extension

Manchester City have announced that defender Kyle Walker has extended his contract with the club until the summer of 2026.

The 33-year-old was strongly linked with a summer exit from the Etihad Stadium and recently admitted that he was "close" to joining Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

However, Walker - who was due to see his original deal expire in June 2024 - has been persuaded to put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension, and has since expressed his delight to have committed his future to the club.

"I'm thrilled to sign a new deal. My future is with Manchester City and that is the best thing for me," Walker told mancity.com.

Nolan says West Ham were "very close" to Maguire deal

West Ham United assistant manager Kevin Nolan has claimed that his club were "very close" to signing Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire during the summer transfer window.

The Hammers are believed to have had a £30m bid accepted for the England international, but he ultimately remained at Old Trafford past the transfer deadline.

Maguire has said that he 'did not come to an agreement' with West Ham over a move, with the 30-year-old believed to have made it clear that he wanted to remain with Erik ten Hag's side.

"How can I put this? We just didn't come to an agreement," Maguire told The Express. "They were happy for me to stay and I was happy to fight for my place. I want to do that and every time I train or play I will give everything.

Chelsea 'increasingly open to Reece James sale'

Chelsea are reportedly increasingly open to cashing in on Reece James should an opportunity arise in the future.

Earlier this summer, the academy graduate was handed the club captaincy, taking over a leadership role vacated by Jorginho and Cesar Azpilicueta over the past 12 months.

Having got back to full fitness over pre-season, the hope had been that the England international would become a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino's new-look team.

However, despite his late withdrawal during the first Premier League fixture of the season against Liverpool having being put down to tiredness, James suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury in training the following week.

Valentin Barco 'reaches agreement in principle to join Man City'

Boca Juniors left-back Valentin Barco has reportedly reached an agreement in principle to join Manchester City.

The 19-year-old has been on the Citizens' radar for some time and was linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium during the summer transfer window.

Both Brighton & Hove Albion and Juventus have also been credited with an interest in Barco, but it appears that Man City have moved to the front of the queue for the Argentine's signature.

Pep Guardiola's side allegedly tabled a 'tempting offer' for Barco that exceeded a bid from Brighton earlier this summer, but a switch to the blue side of Manchester failed to materialise for the youngster.

Man United director, CEO 'trying to de-escalate Sancho situation'

Manchester United football director John Murtough and CEO Richard Arnold are reportedly both involved in attempting to de-escalate the situation between head coach Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho.

The 23-year-old was a notable absentee from the squad that was involved in the clash with Arsenal before the international break, with Ten Hag revealing during his post-match press conference that the forward had not been selected due to some poor performances in training.

Sancho took to social media to deny the claims, and there is now believed to be serious tension between the two individuals.

The Englishman was heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League ahead of the division's transfer deadline last week, but a potential move to Al Ettifaq fell through.

Man United identify Kvaratskhelia as Sancho, Antony replacement?

Manchester United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid their ongoing conundrum on the right-hand side.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag succeeded in his efforts to bring Antony to the club from Ajax last year, and the Brazilian quickly became the club's first-choice right-winger.

However, Antony has now taken a leave of absence after being accused of domestic assault by three different women, and while the 23-year-old denies the allegations, he will not represent the team while the situation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho appears to be broken beyond repair after the Englishman questioned his manager's reasons for leaving him out of the squad against Arsenal earlier this month.

Forest's Shelvey 'closing in on Rizespor move'

Jonjo Shelvey has reportedly agreed to join Turkish side Caykur Rizespor on loan from Nottingham Forest for the rest of the season.

The midfielder only arrived at the City Ground in January, but after seven months, his time at the club is set to be put on pause.

Shelvey made just six starts after joining halfway through last season, and did not feature after he was allegedly dropped before Forest's trip to Liverpool in April.

The Telegraph now claims that Shelvey will leave the club, for the season at least, to join Rizespor, who are fifth in the Super Lig, two points adrift of league leaders Fenerbahce.

Man United 'decide on asking price for Sancho'

Manchester United reportedly decide to entertain offers of £65m for winger Jadon Sancho.

When he returned to Manchester in 2021, having previously been with Manchester City, there were high hopes that Sancho would only build on the form that he showed regularly at Borussia Dortmund.

However, while there have been glimpses, the 23-year-old has only contributed 12 goals and six assists from his 82 appearances in all competitions.

Furthermore, the England international is now at loggerheads with head coach Erik ten Hag, who opted to publicly criticise Sancho for his training level after dropping him for the Premier League fixture at Arsenal earlier this month.

Arsenal to face competition for Ousmane Diomande?

Arsenal will reportedly face competition if they return with a new offer for Sporting Lisbon defender Ousmane Diomande.

The Gunners were productive during the summer transfer window, strengthening in a number of positions ahead of their return to the Champions League.

Goalkeeper David Raya, defender Jurrien Timber, midfielder Declan Rice and playmaker Kai Havertz were all added to Mikel Arteta's squad.

However, it has been recently reported that Arsenal failed with an approach for young Sporting defender Diomande, largely a consequence of his high release clause.
