Transfer rumours: Burnley fail with Bakayoko bid, West Ham keen on Sangare, Fulham want Sugawara
Burnley have reportedly failed with an approach for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.
Since earning promotion to the Premier League, Clarets boss Vincent Kompany has been relentless with his efforts to strengthen his first-team squad.
Despite the vast financial outlay, there are no signs of Kompany settling with his current crop, and it was alleged earlier this month that an ambitious bid for Bakayoko was in the offing.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a €20m (£17.17m) was not enough to tempt PSV into selling the Belgian prospect.

Barcelona 'will not be committed to Cancelo deal next summer'
Barcelona will not reportedly be committed to signing Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo next summer.
The Portugal international is said to be closing in on a loan move to Camp Nou, allegedly rejecting lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia in favour of a switch to the Catalan giants.
Cancelo is set to move on loan for the 2023-24 campaign, but according to Marca, there will not be an obligation to make the deal permanent during next summer's transfer window.
The report claims that Barcelona have been determined to avoid being tied into a move next year, and they will now be free to decide without pressure whether they want to bring him in permanently.

Roma chiefs 'heading to London for Lukaku talks with Chelsea'
Roma president Dan Friedkin and director Tiago Pinto will reportedly be at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening to hold talks with Chelsea over a possible loan deal for Romelu Lukaku.
The Blues will be bidding to secure their first victory of the 2023-24 Premier League campaign when they welcome newly-promoted Luton Town.
According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Friedkin and Pinto will be present at the famous stadium, with the pair set to meet with Chelsea officials in the hope of agreeing a deal for Lukaku.
Chelsea have allegedly changed their mind when it comes to the Belgium international, with the club now said to be willing to discuss a loan exit.

Chelsea eyeing move for Portimonense defender Filipe Relvas?
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Portimonense defender Filipe Relvas.
The Blues have been busy strengthening all areas of their squad this summer, including in central defence with the addition of Axel Disasi earlier this month.
While Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino can now call upon Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Thiago Silva, his defensive options were weakened by the news that Wesley Fofana is likely to miss the majority of the season with a knee injury.
As a result, the West London club are seemingly open to the prospect of reinforcing their defence and are scouring the market for possible additions.

Romeo Lavia to wait "a few weeks" before Chelsea debut
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that recent addition Romeo Lavia will have to wait "a few weeks" to make his debut.
Lavia completed a £58m move from Southampton last week after Chelsea fought off interest to land the Belgium international.
The 19-year-old was Chelsea's second midfield addition in a matter of days following the arrival of Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion for a British-record fee of £115m.
Caicedo experienced a forgettable debut in Sunday's 3-1 defeat to West Ham United, conceding a late penalty in his substitute appearance.

Brentford re-sign Saman Ghoddos on one-year deal
"I'm pretty sure nobody expected Saman to be back at Brentford this summer, especially after the send-off the club and fans gave him after the final game of last season," Director of football Phil Giles told the Brentford website.
"We had an option to keep Saman with us this season but elected not to exercise that option because we were unable to offer Saman the minutes he wanted or deserved this year.
"However, sometimes things change, and we are now in a position to be able to offer him a contract for this season.
"Saman had not yet signed a contract with another club, so it was a really easy process for everyone to decide that this is what we all wanted to do.
"He has always been a very popular member of the squad so I'm sure everyone will be pleased to see him back at the training ground and getting minutes in first-team games very soon."
Arsenal, Tottenham 'learn asking price for Toney'
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been given a valuation for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
The 27-year-old is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching the Football Association's gambling regulations
In May, Toney admitted to 232 breaches of the FA's betting rules between 2017 and 2021, and he was subsequently punished with a lengthy ban and fined £50,000.
While Toney will be able to return to Brentford training in September, his eight-month suspension does not expire until January 16.

Jake Cooper signs new long-term Millwall contract
"It has been no secret that we have been looking to extend Jake's contract, so we are delighted that he has re-committed his future to Millwall today," Millwall's Director of Football Operations and Recruitment Alex Aldridge told the club's website.
"Naturally, there is a lot of focus on the transfer window and new players at this time of year, but this is an equally important piece of business that removes any uncertainty surrounding Jake's future with us.
"Jake has been an ever-present in the team since joining us in 2017 and he remains as hungry and ambitious as ever to keep driving the club forwards."

Erik ten Hag has no midfield concerns at Manchester United
Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has played down suggestions that there is a midfield issue at the club in the early stages of this season.
The Red Devils were fortunate to win their Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14, with the home side surviving a host of pressure before ultimately managing to secure all three points courtesy of a late header from Raphael Varane.
Casemiro was left isolated against Wolves, with Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount pushing further forward, while there were similar problems on display in the 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Christian Eriksen was introduced in the second period, which saw Fernandes move to the right, but Spurs continued to dominate in the middle.

Man United 'lining up bid for Santos forward Leonardo'
Manchester United are reportedly preparing an offer for Santos forward Marcos Leonardo, with the Red Devils looking to beat Roma to the youngster's signature.
The 20-time English champions have signed Rasmus Hojlund this summer, but the Denmark international is yet to make his debut for the club due to a troublesome back issue.
Hojlund will again be missing for Saturday's Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, which is likely to see Marcus Rashford continue through the middle.
Rashford has struggled in the team's opening two league games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, while Anthony Martial cannot be relied upon to stay fit for an extended period.

Barcelona announce new long-term contract for Ter Stegen
Barcelona have confirmed that goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has signed a new contract until June 2028.
The Germany international's previous deal with the La Liga champions had been due to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, but it has now been announced that he has committed his long-term future to the club.
"FC Barcelona and the player Marc ter Stegen have reached an agreement to extend his contract until 30 June 2028. The buy out clause is set at 500m euros," read a statement on the club's official website.
"The event for the contract extension took place on Friday in the Spotify Camp Nou offices with president Joan Laporta, first vice president Rafa Yuste, economic vice president Eduard Romeu, board member Joan Soler and sporting director Anderson Luis de Souza 'Deco'."

Ryan Bertrand 'emerges as left-back target for Man United'
Manchester United are reportedly considering bringing a new left-back to the club before the end of the transfer window, having been hit with the news that Luke Shaw has picked up a muscular problem.
The Red Devils have not put a timeframe on Shaw's absence, but it is believed that he could be missing for a couple of months, while the back-up left-back Tyrell Malacia is also currently on the sidelines.
Speaking during his press conference on Friday ahead of the Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag said that Malacia would be absent for at least another "few weeks".
"Will also take a few weeks before he will be back. Definitely, we have the solutions in our squad to cope with that. We thought before the season about this scenario, it could happen, you hope to avoid. But if it happens you have to be ready for it," said the Dutchman.

Chelsea midfielder Santos joins Forest on loan
Nottingham Forest have signed Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos on a season-long loan deal.
Throughout pre-season, a number of prospects attempted to impress Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino before more established names were brought through the door.
That included Santos who was working with Chelsea for the first time having been allowed to return to Vasco Da Gama on loan upon failing to gain a work permit in January.
Santos was a regular during Chelsea's summer schedule in the United States, accumulating 195 minutes of football across four friendlies, and the 19-year-old made a positive impact in those matches.

Nuno Tavares agents 'arrive in London for Arsenal exit talks'
The agents of Arsenal left-back Nuno Tavares have reportedly arrived in London to negotiate the Portuguese's exit from the Emirates.
The 23-year-old departed Benfica in 2021 to join the Gunners' ranks under Mikel Arteta and initially made a big impression while deputising for the injured Kieran Tierney.
However, Tavares's fortunes soon took a dramatic downturn, culminating in his first-half substitution and angry reaction in an FA Cup third-round defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The Portugal Under-21 international laid down an early marker during a loan spell at Marseille last season, contributing three goals from his first four Ligue 1 games as a left-wing back.

Man United 'reach agreement in principle with Odysseas Vlachodimos'
Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has reportedly reached a verbal agreement in principle with Manchester United over a five-year contract.
The 29-year-old is expected to leave the Portuguese champions in the coming days after an alleged falling out with manager Roger Schmidt.
Vlachodimos's performances were crucial in Benfica's title triumph last season, as he kept 21 clean sheets in 34 Primeira Liga games, but he shipped three goals on the opening day of the 2023-24 season to Boavista.
After Schmidt publicly criticised Vlachodimos's display, the Greece international was left out of the squad for last weekend's 2-0 win over Estrela, where Samuel Soares began the game and new arrival Anatoliy Trubin warmed the bench.

Stoke City sign Dutch midfielder Wouter Burger from Basel
"I have been waiting for a long time to get the deal done and I am so happy to finally be here and begin this new journey," Burger told stokecityfc.com.
"Stoke were really clear throughout the summer that they wanted to sign me as a priority and have put a lot of effort in to get me here. I am excited to play in the Championship and also believe that I will improve my game in this league.
"It is a new project, there is a good energy at the training ground and stadium and a clear goal, which is exciting to be a part of."
Man City 'preparing second offer for Matheus Nunes'
Manchester City are reportedly preparing to approach Wolverhampton Wanderers with a second offer for midfielder Matheus Nunes.
The Premier League champions are already believed to have failed with an opening bid of £47m for the Portugal international, who is keen to move to the Etihad.
However, Wolves have Nunes under contract until 2027 - with the option of a further year - and are therefore under no pressure to let him leave on the cheap, in spite of their Financial Fair Play concerns.
The Molineux outfit have supposedly slapped a £60m price tag on the head of Nunes, who was brought to the Premier League in a £38m deal from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

Chelsea 'ready to entertain Lukaku loan bids'
Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have reportedly decided to change their stance regarding the future of Romelu Lukaku.
Ever since the forward's loan spell at Inter Milan came to an end earlier this summer, his future has been a topic for debate on a daily basis.
The general consensus has been that Chelsea will only entertain permanent bids for the 30-year-old, a consequence of needing to boost their position with FFP and lower their wage bill.
However, Boehly and Clearlake have found it more difficult than anticipated to facilitate the exit of the Belgium international, who has had admirers in Inter and Juventus.

Jurgen Klopp: 'Mohamed Salah is 100% committed to Liverpool'
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes that Mohamed Salah remains "100%" committed to the Reds amid fresh claims of a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
Speculation surrounding the Egypt international's future died down when he extended his contract until 2025 last year, but that has not stopped financial powerhouses in the Middle East trying their luck.
Reports on Thursday stated that Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad were ready to go all out in an attempt to prise Salah away from the Premier League, including making him the highest-paid player in the world.
Liverpool have already sold Fabinho to Nuno Espirito Santo's side this summer, as well as letting long-serving captain Jordan Henderson reunite with Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq.

Monaco 'on verge of reaching Balogun agreement'
Monaco have reportedly closing in on a deal with Arsenal to sign Folarin Balogun over the coming days.
The forward has received widespread interest in his signature throughout the summer, a consequence of his impressive campaign on loan at Reims in 2022-23.
Despite failing to make an impact at his parent club and a previous loan stint with Middlesbrough, Balogun netted 21 times in Ligue 1.
However, there has never been any realistic prospect of returning to the fold at the Emirates Stadium due to the presence of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, as well as the 22-year-old having no desire to sign a new contract.

Arsenal defender Tierney 'closing on Real Sociedad loan'
Real Sociedad have reportedly agreed a deal with Arsenal regarding the loan signing of Kieran Tierney.
The defender has spent the last four seasons at the Emirates Stadium, making a total of 124 appearances in all competitions.
However, Tierney has had less impact as his time in North London has progressed, a consequence of Oleksandr Zinchenko arriving at the club in 2022.
Although the Scotland international was provided with 27 outings in the Premier League last season, he accumulated just 776 minutes as the majority of his games came from the substitutes' bench.

Transfer rumours: Hazard to Palace, Dier to Fulham, Johnson to Southampton
Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a surprise move for free agent Eden Hazard.
The Belgian departed Real Madrid in June, coming to an agreement with the Spanish giants to end his contract a year earlier than originally planned due to his struggles for action.
Hazard has been linked with a move to the MLS, but he remains a free agent, and there have been suggestions that the former Lille youngster is considering retirement.
However, according to FootballTransfers, Palace could provide him with the chance to return to the Premier League.
