How Manchester United could line up against Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for their Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday evening.

Manchester United will endeavour to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford for Tuesday evening's showdown.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men were held to a 2-2 draw by fellow Champions League hopefuls Leicester City on Boxing Day, with Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes netting for United while Harvey Barnes and an Axel Tuanzebe own goal restored parity for Leicester.

Despite missing out on the chance to go second in the table, the Red Devils remain in the top four after Chelsea suffered a shock defeat at Arsenal a few hours after United's four-goal thriller at the King Power.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how United could line up for the visit of Wolves.

Out: Victor Lindelof (back), Marcos Rojo (calf), Phil Jones (knee)
Doubtful: Aaron Wan-Bissaka (unspecified)

United already have two centre-backs out for the long-term in Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, and Solskjaer's defensive problems worsened when Victor Lindelof's ongoing back problem forced him off against Leicester.

The Swede was filling in at right-back for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is thought to be carrying a knock despite United's reluctance to offer more details about his injury, so Axel Tuanzebe should start on Tuesday despite his own goal on Boxing Day.

With only 72 hours to recuperate in between fixtures, Solskjaer may be tempted to bring Alex Telles into the fold for Luke Shaw on the left-hand side of defence, but Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire's spots ahead of David de Gea are safe.

Fred and Scott McTominay are expected to form a midfield pairing once again, with Paul Pogba still struggling for starts as speculation over his future gathers pace, and Donny van de Beek is unlikely to come into Solskjaer's thinking for this one either.

Daniel James has been a surprise starter for United over the past few weeks, but Mason Greenwood will hope to feature from the off against Wolves after he was an unused substitute against Leicester.

Bruno Fernandes became the first Portuguese player since Cristiano Ronaldo to score 10 goals in a Premier League season with his strike on Boxing Day, and the playmaker will be facing off against several of his compatriots when Wolves pay a visit to Old Trafford this week.

Edinson Cavani once again made an impact as a substitute against Leicester - providing the assist for Fernandes's second-half goal - and the Uruguay international will hope to have done enough to demote Anthony Martial to the bench for Tuesday's game.
