Erik ten Hag 'to break wages record at Manchester United'

Erik ten Hag will reportedly break a wages record having agreed to become the next manager of Manchester United.

Manchester United have reportedly made Erik ten Hag the highest-paid Dutch coach in the history of the Premier League.

After weeks of speculation, it was confirmed on Thursday morning that Ten Hag would depart his role at Ajax to become the permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United revealed that the 52-year-old had penned a three-year contract at Old Trafford with the option of extending those terms by a further 12 months.

According to a report in De Telegraaf, Ten Hag also stands to become the highest-paid coach from his country to take on the chief position in the dugout.

While a specific wage has not been revealed, it indicates that Ten Hag's salary will be greater of former United manager Louis van Gaal and multiple-time interim Chelsea head coach Guus Hiddink.

United are also allegedly paying Ajax a fee in the region of £2.5m to acquire Ten Hag and his assistant Mitchell van der Gaag. body check tags ::
