Jose Mourinho 'unhappy with Ed Woodward backing'

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly unhappy with chief executive Ed Woodward over the lack of backing he has received during his fallout with Paul Pogba.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly unhappy with chief executive Ed Woodward over a lack of backing in his ongoing dispute with Paul Pogba.

Mourinho is understood to have been angered by Pogba's behaviour off the pitch and unimpressed by his form on it, leading to him stripping the midfielder of the vice-captaincy last month.

The pair's relationship is rumoured to be broken beyond repair, and The Mirror reports that Mourinho has been unimpressed with Woodward's failure to side with him during the dispute.

Pogba suggested after Tuesday night's 0-0 draw with Valencia that he had been banned from speaking to the media - a decision which is understood to have come from Mourinho and his staff rather than anyone higher up.

The Portuguese boss wants Woodward to publicly back him and to warn both Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola that they are not bigger than the club.

The World Cup winner still has three years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford, but is understood to want a move to Barcelona in January.
