Manchester United forward Antony was reportedly questioned for five hours by police on Thursday, having returned to the United Kingdom earlier this week.

The 23-year-old is currently being investigated by the Greater Manchester Police and Sao Paulo Civil Police following accusations from his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin and one other woman.

Cavallin has said that Antony assaulted her on multiple occasions during their relationship, with the alleged incidents said to have happened in both Brazil and England.

The former Ajax forward has always denied any form of physical violence towards his ex-partner, while he has also claimed that Cavallin had doctored WhatsApp messages.

Antony's former girlfriend's most serious claim involves an alleged incident in a Manchester hotel in January, and he was recently given a leave of absence by Man United.

The Brazilian's return has now been confirmed by Man United, with the player set to resume training and become available for selection once again.

Antony has not been arrested or charged, and he is allegedly fully co-operating with the police in a bid to prove his innocence.

In pictures obtained by The Sun, the forward was seen leaving a Manchester police station after five hours of questioning on Thursday.

Antony is said to have arrived at the police station at 4pm before leaving shortly after 9pm, although it is unclear at this stage whether he will be heading back in for further questioning.

The South American is not expected to be available for Saturday's game with Crystal Palace, but he could potentially be involved against Galatasaray in the Champions League next week.

Antony's last appearance for the Red Devils came against Arsenal on September 3, missing the team's last four games against Brighton & Hove Albion, Bayern Munich, Burnley and Palace.

The forward has represented Man United on 48 occasions, scoring eight goals and registering three assists, and he will return to a squad which is still missing Jadon Sancho.

After three successive losses, Man United have now won their last two against Burnley and Palace, and they will be aiming to make it back-to-back league wins when they welcome the Eagles on Saturday.

Lisandro Martinez and Sergio Reguilon have become the latest players to join the injury list, but Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay are back from illnesses for this weekend's game. body check tags ::
