Saturday's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup: Moises Caicedo, Sergio Romero, Paul Pogba

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Manchester United on Saturday, December 19.

A frustrating summer transfer window has now closed with Manchester United having missed out on a number of their top targets, including Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils were busy on deadline day, though, bringing in Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January. Attention will now switch to other business they may do when the window reopens in the winter.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.

Saturday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:

Manchester United 'open talks for Ecuadorian teen Moises Caicedo'

Manchester United are reportedly in discussions with Independiente del Valle over a potential January deal for Ecuador international Moises Caicedo.

The 19-year-old has made 29 appearances for his current club, contributing six goals and two assists, while he has also netted once in four caps for Ecuador.

According to the Daily Record, United have opened talks with the teenager's club over the possibility of a move to Old Trafford at the start of 2021.

The report, though, claims that West Ham United are also interested in signing the midfielder, who is valued by Independiente del Valle at €6m (£5.4m).

As well as the transfer fee, the Ecuadorian club are allegedly keen for the proposed deal to include 20% of any future sale.

Caicedo revealed during a recent television interview that Man United are his favourite club and suggested that he models his game on Red Devils midfielder Paul Pogba.

Manchester United to offload duo in January?

Manchester United are reportedly keen to part ways with Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo at the beginning of 2021.

Despite both players entering the final year of their respective contracts earlier in 2020, United were unable to attract a suitable bid for their services during the summer.

However, according to The Athletic, chief executive Ed Woodward is looking to get the Argentine duo off the wage bill as soon as possible.

The report suggests that Rojo would prefer to sign for another Premier League club, rather than entertain two offers which have arrived from Spain.

Nevertheless, a La Liga side is said to be a realistic option for Romero, who is eager to earn first-team football after dropping to third choice in the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Neither player has made a first-team appearance during the 2020-21 campaign.
