Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag admits that the club's current injury crisis "is a concern".

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has admitted that the club's current injury crisis "is a concern", with Harry Maguire the latest player to be ruled out of action.

Mason Mount and Raphael Varane were both back in training on Tuesday but were not included in the squad that headed to Germany for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.

Kobbie Mainoo and Sofyan Amrabat also stepped up their own recoveries with individual sessions, but the duo remain unavailable for selection, while Maguire will not be involved in the clash at Allianz Arena due to a muscular problem that he suffered in training.

Maguire has joined Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo and Tom Heaton on the treatment table, while Antony and Jadon Sancho are both missing due to personal issues.

A 21-man squad has travelled to Germany, but four goalkeepers have been selected due to the team's problems, and Ten Hag opened up on the issues during his press conference on Tuesday.

"Yes, of course, it is a concern. That is why we knew that before, when we constructed the squad with that, so we can deal with it. The squad can deal with it," said Ten Hag before addressing Maguire's issue.

"He had some complaints and we have to see how bad it is. So he finished training but it was not good enough to travel."

Ten Hag also opened up on his frustration at rarely being able to select his strongest XI due to a whole host of injury problems since arriving at Old Trafford last summer.

"One thing is true, from the start last season, I almost never started with the best, in my opinion, starting XI," he added. "You have to deal with it and we always got the results in, apart from now.

"That is football and I have the experience from the past, it is always going up. You have to deal with it and I like this situation, as you have to deal with it and manage it. You must focus on the process.

"The doctors are dealing with the injury problems. Injuries are always coming in top football, because we are living on the edge.

"Of course, we analyse why things happen, but we have to deal with the facts. It is always about the players who are available and how best we line up."

Youngsters Dan Gore and Omari Forson have both been named in Man United's squad for Wednesday's mouthwatering clash in Germany, while Hannibal Mejbri, who scored in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, has also been included. body check tags ::
